Located in the historic fort city of Galle on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, VILLA TAAVETTI is a luxury resort featuring rooms and suites, an indoor pool, a spa room, and a fitness area. An outdoor lovers’ paradise, Southern Province is home to colorful reefs that make for world-class snorkeling and diving, as well as exquisite blue beaches. Natural and cultural wonders abound, including windswept beaches and nodding palms surrounding its colonial-era showpiece, a 16th-century Portuguese-built fort.
The city wears its history on its sleeve as it is trimmed with Dutch-style houses, quirky shops, whitewashed mansions, and heritage museums.
And it’s all just a 1 hour 45-minute ride from Colombo International Airport. Close to Colombo – Matara highway and Galle Railway station which is connected to major places and routes.
Design
VILLA TAAVETTI has used colors, patterns, and textures to create a visual kaleidoscope of discovery and delight.
Awash in custom-made wooden furniture, neutral whites, and warm touch of Asian authenticity and the interior design with its Lankan spectral flavor. An abundance of glass doors bring outside splendors in, producing a truly relaxing atmosphere. Interior is trimmed with Dutch-style adding some modernity with natural woods, and the occasional artifact from a bygone era keep things minimalistic, inside and out. The crisp modernity of the furniture is dynamically integrated into the powerful landscapes outside.
Architecture
Preserved architectural elements are offset by fresh materials that still speak to the property’s rich history.
Using a varied and inspired material palette that includes stone, mirror and glass and wood cravings and furniture are a beacon of warmth and welcome. An austere presence is softened through the rich use of decorative elements that speak to the past yet infuses one with a sense of contemporaneity and calm.

Drawings
A landscape of sand, rocks, greenery, and trees is peppered with whitewashed bungalows, villas, and terraces that look to the Galle Fort.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional architectural style of the fishing villages of Galle, Dutch and Portugal influence that surround the hotel, our architects wanted to use decorative that conceptualize the culture and local history.
